Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (RNIDS) organised a one day educational event called “Pitajte.rs” (Ask.rs) on May 2nd 2015, within the “Nova Energija” (New Energy) conference.
The program was designed to directly connect the audience with 12 Serbian Internet experts by providing the opportunity for people to ask specific questions, and instantly receive answers and professional advices. Each of the experts gave a short lecture and answered questions within these 4 topics:
• How to start your Internet business?
• How to build your brand online?
• How to create online content?
• How to advertise on the Internet?
A lot of people who have recently started working on their online presence, doesn’t have the opportunity to receive any kind of free professional support in acquiring knowledge and good practices within their scope of work. Our idea was to become a bridge that connects the Internet beginners with the professionals in a stimulating and creative environment, where they are comfortable to ask questions and receive support in overcoming a certain business challenge.
Around 100 attendees directly participated in discussions together with the people who asked questions via pitajte.rs / питајте.срб website, Facebook and Twitter. Having that the conference room was too small to receive all of the interested audience, people brought additional seats, stood aside and kept asking questions all the time, regardless the fact that the event lasted one hour longer that it was previously planned. Their feedback was very positive, stating that “Pitajte.rs” is the model they need to receive professional help and connect with the experts.
To provide a knowledge base that may be used in future, we have shared all of the experts’ presentations and video footages of the lectures on the website and our YouTube channel, together with photos that are available on our Facebook page. So far, these videos were watched more than 2,700 times, pitajte.rs received around 7,000 visits while the tweets with #pitajters hashtag, reached more than 184,500 people in a short time period.
Having that the program gave excellent results and that we received a lot of positive comments, we can conclude that Serbian Internet community is quite interested in continuing the “Pitajte.rs” all around the country. Therefore, we have considered organising “Pitajte.rs” as a traveling educational program in various cities in Serbia. For now, people can “nominate” their city through an online form at the website. In the following period, we will decide the city which would host the event, and connect with their local Internet community that would support the organization of the event.
