The conference “Intellectual Property and the Internet” was held on May 30, 2016 at the University of Belgrade, School of Law. The conference was organized for the second time by the Foundation “Serbian national internet domains registry” (RNIDS) and the University of Belgrade School of Law. The conference was supported by ICANN. The conference proceedings were organized in three panels.
The first panel was dedicated to the administration of the domain name system. The panel was chaired by Professor Tatjana Jevremovic Petrovic from the University of Belgrade, School of Law. The panel consisted of the representatives of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, Andrea Beccalli and Aysegul Tekce, the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer within the RNIDS, Dejan Djukic and the president of the Serbian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Institution Prof. Dusan Popovic.
The second panel was dedicated to the intersection of domain names and trademarks. It was chaired by Professor Slobodan Markovic (University of Belgrade). The panelists were: Professor Sinisa Varga (University of Kragujevac), Associate Professor Agnes Robin (University of Montpellier), Associate Professor Jelena Ceranic (University of Banjaluka) and Assistant Professor Marko Jovanovic (University of Belgrade).
The final panel was dedicated to copyright law. The panel was chaired by the Acting Director of the Serbian Intellectual Property Office, Vladimir Maric. The panelists were coming both from the academia and practice: Associate Professor Dusan Popovic (University of Belgrade), Assistant Professor Sanja Radovanovic (University of Novi Sad), Attorney Andrea Radonjanin and Attorney Novak Vujicic.
The conference “Intellectual Property and the Internet” was streamed online live and the viewers were able to ask questions by email. There were more than 90 persons present at the premises. The University of Belgrade published the edited collection “Intellectual Property and the Internet (2016)”.
